Baked fried chicken recipe
Ingredients:
For the Chicken:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Coating:
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (you can use panko for extra crispiness)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Coating Station:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
Instructions:
- Marinate the Chicken:
- In a bowl, mix buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully coated.
- Marinate for at least 30 minutes or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the Coating:
- In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Set Up the Coating Station:
- Place the flour in one shallow dish, the beaten eggs in another, and the breadcrumb mixture in a third dish.
- Coat the Chicken:
- Dredge each marinated chicken breast in the flour, shaking off excess.
- Dip the chicken into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s well-coated.
- Roll the chicken in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the crumbs onto the surface.
- Bake:
- Place the coated chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a wire rack.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the coating is golden brown and crispy.
- Serve:
- Let the baked fried chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or sides.
