Baked fried chicken recipe

Ingredients:

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Coating:

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (you can use panko for extra crispiness)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Coating Station:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
    • In a bowl, mix buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and pepper.
    • Add chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully coated.
    • Marinate for at least 30 minutes or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Prepare the Coating:
    • In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Set Up the Coating Station:
    • Place the flour in one shallow dish, the beaten eggs in another, and the breadcrumb mixture in a third dish.
  5. Coat the Chicken:
    • Dredge each marinated chicken breast in the flour, shaking off excess.
    • Dip the chicken into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s well-coated.
    • Roll the chicken in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the crumbs onto the surface.
  6. Bake:
    • Place the coated chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a wire rack.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the coating is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve:
    • Let the baked fried chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
    • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or sides.
