Air fryer sausage rolls
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 8 oz (225 g) sausage meat or ground sausage of choice
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 1 tsp dried herbs (e.g., thyme, rosemary, or parsley)
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Sausage Filling:
- In a bowl, mix sausage meat with dried herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Combine well.
- Assemble the Sausage Rolls:
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface. Cut it into 2 or 3 long strips, depending on the size of sausage rolls you want.
- Place the sausage mixture along the center of each strip.
- Fold one side of the pastry over the filling and roll tightly to seal. Pinch the edges or use a fork to crimp them.
- Cut and Glaze:
- Cut the rolled pastry into smaller pieces (about 2-3 inches each).
- Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
- Cook in the Air Fryer:
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Arrange the sausage rolls in a single layer in the basket, leaving some space between each.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the sausage is cooked through (internal temperature of 160°F/71°C).
- Serve:
- Let the sausage rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup or mustard.
