Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp

Ingredients

For the shrimp:

  • 1 pound raw shrimp (peeled, deveined, and tails removed)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray

For the Bang Bang sauce:

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust for heat preference)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp:
    • Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.
    • In three separate bowls:
      • Bowl 1: Add the flour.
      • Bowl 2: Beat the eggs.
      • Bowl 3: Mix panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Coat the shrimp:
    • Dredge each shrimp in flour, dip it in the beaten egg, and coat it in the seasoned panko mixture. Press lightly to adhere.
  3. Air fry the shrimp:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
    • Place the shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket (you may need to cook in batches). Lightly spray with cooking spray.
    • Air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  4. Make the Bang Bang sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey (if using).
  5. Assemble:
    • Toss the crispy shrimp in the sauce until evenly coated, or serve the sauce on the side for dipping.
  6. Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds, and enjoy immediately!
